Reese Witherspoon honors the anniversary of Sweet Home Alabama

Reese Witherspoon celebrated her 20th anniversary

pays tribute to a film that “completely changed” her life.

On Saturday, the Big Little Lies star to share a series of clips from her 2002 romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama. In the film, Witherspoon plays Melanie, a fashion designer from New York who returns to her small hometown in the South to divorce her first husband, played by Josh Lucas.

The film also stars Melanie Lynskey as her ex-best friend and Patrick Dempsey as her current fiancé who is waiting for her back in Manhattan. Dakota Fanning, in one of her first roles, plays a younger version of Witherspoon’s character.

“20 years ago Sweet Home Alabama came out and it completely changed my life. Incredible memories of shooting this movie with this amazing cast – Josh, Patrick, Dakota, Melanie, Jean, Ethan, Mary Kay, Fred and Kandas, of course,” Witherspoon captioned her post. “So many great scenes and my favorite line… ‘So I can kiss you whenever I want.’ Do you remember when you first saw it?’

Witherspoon’s fans loved the flashback — including her sister Dakota Fanning, The great thing Starring Elle Fanning, who wrote “THE BEST.” Rachel Zoe agreed, “THE BEST MOVIE EVER.”

The Hello Sunshine producer often pays homage to her past work on social media. Last year it celebrated its 20th anniversary Legally blonde — in which she played sorority president-turned-Harvard law student Elle Woods — with a special message about how important the film remains to her.

“Every meme, graduation cap, musical number, Halloween costume and bend & snap has brought me so much joy over the past two decades!” it gushes. “I wonder… what will Elle do next?”

Fans I will find out what Elle Woods is up to next: Witherspoon is ready , with a screenplay written by Mindy Kaling. As of now, it’s unclear when exactly the film will hit theaters.

“I still hope so Legally Blonde 3 will unite in the right way”, o Walk the Line said the actress last year. “It’s just like Top Gun: They waited a long time to do another version of that movie, and I loved the nostalgia part that they put into it. So that definitely gave us a lot of inspiration for what we wanted to do with Elle Woods and make sure we had all those same tests that mattered to people [back] afterward.”
