There was no way Paula Abdul was going to miss Kelly Clarkson’s big moment.

On Monday, the 40-year-old daytime talk show host was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame and all three American Idol The judges – Simon Cowell, Abdul and Randy Jackson – reunited to show their support.

“I’m so proud to be here, my honor,” Abdul, 60, said during her speech in support of Clarkson, who became the first Idol winner 20 years ago. “I changed my flight just to be here. I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Kelly — not only did the trajectory of your life change, but you helped change the trajectory of everyone’s lives.”

Abdul soon arrived at Cowell’s speech, prompting the outspoken judge to crack a few jokes before the “Opposites Attract” singer praised Clarkson for her “talent”, “perseverance”, “grace” and “dignity”.

He said Clarkson “made the first season worth it”, joking, “Even if I have to sit next to a Brit on my left. And a great guy on my right.”

Abdul continued: “If someone can ever say, in your wildest dreams, ‘Did you ever think you’d be a part of a show that just changed the world?’, I’d be a liar if I said yes. I’m living proof every day, and I I would force myself to talk to her and put her in the elevator. “Where did you get your education? You’re an opera singer, I can tell.” But I love you.”

Abdul thanked Clarkson “for changing the trajectory of my life and making me believe like a child believes in Santa Claus. That young, talented people can make it – and they can make it very well.”

He finished by telling Clarkson, whom he called “the sweetest person,” that he can’t wait to see what he achieves in the next decade.

Shortly thereafter, Clarkson received her long-awaited stardom.

On September 4, Clarkson reflected on the 20th anniversary of her “priceless” Idol win.

“The family and friendships I’ve built over these 20 years in music and television are priceless to me,” he wrote in part. “We take so many trips around the sun and while I’m proud and feel blessed for the successes and failures I’ve learned from, I’m most proud and grateful for those friends who have become family and their hands that have held me when I needed it and their listening hearts when I felt lost. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am. I probably wouldn’t be here at all.”
